The Newfypoo is a dog breed originating from the cross between a Newfoundland dog and the standard poodle. They are not recognized by the AKC because of how uncertain their genes are. They enjoy being in the water and are avid swimmers, a trait they inherit from their Newfoundland parents. Due to their large size, they are better suited to larger homes where they will have enough room to roam about. They are adaptable to most climates except high heat. Due to their craving for human attention, the newfypoo will not enjoy being left alone for long periods of time.

Because of their size, they are at a high risk of having bloats also known as gastric torsion and cysturnia which is a condition in which stones develop in their urine. They are also at risk of epilepsy, hip dysplasia, von Willebrand’s disease, skin conditions, and eye defects Regular visits to the doctor should be enough to manage these setbacks giving this Newfoundland mix dog a long healthy life. Their alert nature and powerful frame makes them excellent guard and watchdogs. They will also make a great addition to the family because of their loving and caring side.

A fully grown Newfypoo will stand 26 to 28 inches tall and can weigh in-between 100 to 150 pounds. They have a general lifespan of 8 to 10 years. Their moderate energy levels will not require too much exercise. A daily walk through the park should be enough for newfiedoodles. They will also enjoy swimming a lot as they are known to be pro swimmers. It is important to keep the exercise at a low impact level at their young age as their bones are not yet fully developed yet. It is also important to socialize this dog early in order to reduce its wariness towards strangers.

A weekly brush should be enough to keep the newfydoodle moderately-shedding coat looking neat. Shedding might increase or decrease depending on the breed with which they are crossed. Extra care should be given to their ears, nails, and teeth to avoid infections and increase the dog’s overall comfort. Needles will be a good fit for owners of all levels of experience. This is due to the fact that despite their large size, they are very intelligent, sensitive, and eager to please. Their training will need to be consistent and should make use of positive reinforcement techniques.
